| Description | This picture was taken in the fall of 1982 in the library at the University of Montevallo during an autograph party with Eugene B. Sledge for his book With the Old Breed at Peleliu and Okinawa. Sledge's book recounted his combat experiences with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific in World War II. Left to right are: Dr. E.B. Sledge, author (Biology Dept.), Mr. Appel Kelly, Dr. Phil Beasley (Biology Dept.), and Dr. Russell Warren (Vice President of the University of Montevallo). A copy of W.T.O.B. can be seen on the table at the bottom of the picture. |
