This image is a watercolor painting of the interior stairway in the Holliday-Cary Home , also known as the Holliday-Carey House or the Cary-Pick House , in Auburn , Alabama done by James E . Wood sometime between 1917 and 1942 . The home was built in 1852 by Shelton . The painting shows the interior wooden staircase and its parts including steps and hand rails from several angles and overhead views . The title on the painting reads : "Stairway in Holliday-Cary Home built in 1852 by Shelton. " There is an inscription in the lower right corner which reads : "2nd medal. " The painting is in fair condition and is encapsulated .
