Description
This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn , a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms , 3rd edition , 2013 , depicting the history of the city and the university . From page 80 : The remodeled Presbyterian Church , circa 1900 . Gone were the front porch and the centered cupola , replaced by a steeple and an arched foyer . Presbyterians worshiped there until 1917 , when they moved to their new church at Gay Street and Thach Avenue . The old structure served as headquarters for the YMCA and YWCA , then for forty years as a theatre for the Auburn Players before being restored in the 1970s and becoming the University Chapel .
