From page 411 : When coeds straddled a log and started pillow fighting , it paid to duck or risk a muddy landing in the annual Sigma Chi fund raiser for philanthropy . The games began as the Sigma Chi Derby on February 21 , 1948 ; [sorority members] competed in sack races , egg and spoon races , pie-eating , Coke and cracker contest , chariot races , and greasy pig chasing in the Quadrangle... .
