From page 112 : This "A-Day " handshake symbolized a change of leadership at API in March 1928 . Leaving to become the president of Mercer University was Spright Dowell (right) , Auburn president since 1920 . Arriving was Bradford Knapp , Oklahoma A&M president , who succeeded Dowell at the Auburn helm until 1932 . Alumni and faculty members in the background were, left to right : Captain B .
