Title	1988: Auburn astronauts at Mississippi State football game
Description	This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn, a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms, 3rd edition, 2013, depicting the history of the city and the university. From page 298: Four Auburn astronauts saw the Tigers defeat Mississippi State, 33-0, at Jordan-Hare Stadium in 1988. They are, left to right, James S. Voss, AU class of '72; Kathryn Cordell Thornton, '74; Jan Davis, '77; and Henry W. "Hank" Hartsfield, '54. Hartsfield flew one mission as pilot and two as spacecraft commander. By 1996, Thornton had flown four shuttle missions and had become the second American woman astronaut to walk in space. Davis and her husband, Mark Lee, a fellow astronaut, "became the first married couple to fly in space together" Janet McCoy wrote in Auburn Magazine. Davis later was in the first American crew to be accompanied by a Russian cosmonaut. Voss flew on five space-shuttle flights. On his third flight, he became the first American to receive a promotion (to colonel) in space. He and Susan Helms held the record for the longest space walk--8 hours and 56 minutes.
