Title
1950s : Former college supply store
Description
This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn , a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms , 3rd edition , 2013 , depicting the history of the city and the university . From page 214 : The vacated college supply store building , camouflaged by untrimmed privet , stood next to Mary Martin Hall long after its business was transferred to the new Union Building . The store had operated in one of many surplus military buildings erected on campus soon after World War II ended . They helped meet the needs of an enrollment swelled by thousands of veterans attending Auburn on the GI Bill of Rights . Similar frame structures served as temporary classrooms in several locations on campus , including where Draughon Library was later built . Photo source : Auburn University Photographic Services .
