Title
1950 : Thach Hall under construction
Description
This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn , a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms , 1st edition , 1981 , depicting the history of the city and the university . From page 179 : A new $400,000 home was in the making for the School of Education in 1950 . The foundation of Thach Hall had been poured , and the building was occupied the next year . Directly uphill on Thach Avenue stood Tichenor Hall , known as the New Building for many years after its completion in 1940 . Peeking out to the right of Tichenor is one of the many temporary classroom buildings . At the rear of Tichenor , and further uphill , was Alumni Gym . Samford , of course , stood tall in the distance . Photo source : Auburn Alumnews .
