Description
This image is a photograph used in the book Auburn , a Pictorial History of the Loveliest Village by Mickey Logue and Jack Simms , 2nd edition , 1996 , depicting the history of the city and the University . From page 67 : Supplementing the standard drums as noisemakers at this uptown pep rally in about 1905-07 were at least one dishpan , a metal lid , water buckets , several washtubs , king-sized drumsticks , unidentified horns , and a variety of megaphones . Who knows what was in the barrel ! Nearly everybody wore a hat or a cap . Peering from under a derby third from far right , back row , is football coach Mike Donahue . The people looked serious , but they undoubtedly livened up again once the picture had been taken . Photo source : Mrs . William Hardie , II .
