The Clason family of Cascade Township , Olmsted County , Minnesota had three sons and a son-in-law that served in the American Civil War . William T . Clason who served with the 2nd Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry Regiment , Company L , Rufus L . with the 1st Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry Regiment , Company E and Isaac Lewis Clason with the 2nd Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment , Company B . Chauncey Rounds , the husband of Betsey Clason , served in Company B of the 53rd Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment . Isaac and Rufus saw duty in Tennessee and Georgia (1863-1865) , while Chauncey saw duty in Missouri (1865) . Consists of twenty-seven letters from the Clason family of Cascade Township , Olmsted County , Minnesota . Includes letters written by family members serving in Union Army during the American Civil War , family correspondence from the late 19th century and miscellaneous documents from the early 1900s . The bulk of the letters focus on the military activities of Clason brothers (William , Isaac and Rufus) and Chancey Rounds , the husband of Betsy Clason . Among the postwar documents are seven letters from Louisa Clason to Betsey Rounds , a pension certificate for Hannah A. Adams and ephemeral items from the Minnesota Soldiers Home and Woman's Relief Corp of the Grand Army of the Republic .
