Description
Arthur H . Watts enlisted as a private in Company D of the 1st New York Dragoons on August 9 , 1862 in Warsaw , New York . He was promoted to Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant on September 3 , 1862 . He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant on January 27 , 1864 and promoted to First Lieutenant and Regimental Quartermaster on July 20 , 1864 . On March 13 , 1865 he was promoted to Captain for gallant and meritorious conduct . He mustered out with the rest of his regiment on June 30 , 1865 . Consists of the regimental account ledger of the 1st New York Dragoons (a.k.a 19th New York Cavalry or 130th New York Volunteers) kept by Lieutenant Arthur H . Watts from September of 1864 to April of 1865 . Includes reports on supplies received , forage reports , ordinance , and rations issued to the regimental companies while in Virginia .
