Description
Kami Perez (1944 - ) , an independent researcher living in Auburn , compiled the material at the request of Conner Bailey , a professor in the Auburn Univeristy College of Agriculature Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology , and John Jensen , former head of the Auburn University College of Agriculture Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures and former College of Agriculture dean . Bailey and Jensen had discussed the idea of recording an oral history of the catfish industry and, after several years of talking this idea up among catfish industry leaders , finally received funding for the project from Southern Pride Processing Co. , the Alabama Catfish Producers and the Department of Fisheries and Allied Aquacultures . Consists primarily of oral interviews on audiocassettes but also documents (mostly photocopies) , VHS videotapes , 3.5 in. computer disks , photographs , and slides pertaining to the history of the catfish industry compiled by Kami R . Perez for the Auburn University College of Agriculture .
