Description
This image is Hammond's pocket map of the state of Alabama in 1910 . It shows railroads , rivers , capitols , cities , towns , and forts inside Alabama and small portions of the neighboring states of Georgia , Florida , and Mississippi . The map also shows counties of Alabama and highlights them by the use of different colors . Relief is shown by hachure . A map key is provided below the title in the lower portion to explain the use of different types of symbols on the map . An index is provided on the left margin to show the chief cities in Alabama with populations . Phrases "Hammond's 8 x 11 Map of Alabama " and "Copyright , 1910 , by C.S . Hammond & Co . N.Y. " are printed at the lower right corner above the bottom neat line . Advertisements 'EAT "SUM = MO " SYRUP ' and 'DRINK JERSEY COFFEE ' are printed on the top and bottom parts of the map respectively . The map is originally folded into a pocket size of 16 cm x 9 cm and is enclosed in a cover . The cover has advertisements of "Sum = Mo " Brand cane syrup and corn syrup on the front and the Newleans Coffee on the back . The inside page of the front and back cover have the monthly calendars for 1916 and 1917 printed on them respectively . There is also an advertisement for Jersey Brand Roasted Coffee printed on the back of the map . The map is an original copy of a printed map and is not encapsulated . The pocket cover and the map are still in good condition .
