[Ca]mp 45th Ala Tullahoma Tenn Apl 17 1863
[text missing] Fannie I have just received your
[text missing] dated 13th ult. I got the sample
[text missing] shall keep a look out for
[text missing] pants I may find them on
[text missing] body. I do regret very -
[text missing]h losing them. from the fact
[text missing] had stuck to the piece of cloth
so long, and it was a part -
of a lot captured from the -
Yankees. I took the box from
the express office myself and
did not notice that it had
been opened until I had
taken it a way. I have no
doubt but what it was broken
open by the guard after it
got to Tullahoma as It staid
in the office guarded two or
three days before I found out
it had come. I said in my
last letter I would send back
the receipt but forgot to en-
close it I will try and think
of it this time. I had heard
about the sale of the Shields
[page 2]
place and the Tobacco, a[text missing]
also about Colquitt place b[text missing]
for sale. I am not fami[text missing]
with this land and do not [text missing]
know whether it would [text missing]
us [illegible] or if it is good [text missing]
and [illegible] and [text missing]
to rocky and broken. I would [text missing]
to have it but I would [text missing, illegible]
have no land than a poor
or [illegible] place. I will
trust your judgement on it
and Dr Brownfields. I believe
he will treat me right and
fair. I will try and send
you some money by Mr -
Culver. When he goes home
which will be about next Monday
and I will also try and send
some clothing that I will not
need through the summer
and might lose before winter.
I will give you a list when
I send them. I think we will
move from here before long and
maybe have another long march
