Black's Bluff Aug 12th 1855
Dear Brother
Your letter arrived on yesterday
& brought good news Ma can get [the ?] money when-
ever she wishes it. I don't know any news unless that
Democrats smashed the [W. K.s ?] in this county on last monday
[be such ?] - We have had a great deal of rain recently
the cotton is shedding very much. We have been expecting
to go on [north ?] this summer, but have not made a
start. get [with ?] probably in a week more. Can't you
& I keep [Maggeth ?] between us next year! I don't think, either
of us could do better. The pecans are still, [uncleared ?]
from. Ma wants to taste some [Lon' ?] home made
cheese. I expect Ma & Tine & probably Rob will come out
this fall or winter. Does the negroes say anything about
coming back? You must write me word about the
overseeing [illegible] & what you think of the above. With the exception
of Fe's children, who have bad colds, I believe our family
to be, in good health. Tine & Martha are going with us, i.e.
if, we go on [north ?] next week. There is to be a hunt this
week in this neighborhood for deer. I expect all three of us will
be in it. How does Anna look? I believe this to be
all. Write soon & let me know what you've concluded to do with
or without [Maggeth ?]
All join me in love to you & all.
I am your aff Bro.
