[page 1] Camp Casey Tuesday morning Aug 26 /62 Dear Parents We arrived at Washington Sunday afternoon & after getting some dinner we marched threw Washington across the Potomac about 10 miles. The dust was 2 inches deap in the roads & there wasant many but what got there share of it. Some of the Companys wer all broaken up. Our company stood it the best out of the lot there wer a grate many that broak down & came in the next morning. I stood it first rate. If this is a specimen of the country it isent worth Fighting for the land is all clay. I am well Sargent Floyd is going to cary the leters and I must close I will write sonn All the Boys ar well & like first Rate so I must close. Yours truly Jabez
