[page 1] Camp Good Hope Sept 30 Friend Nearpass Wee have just returned from a long march of about 150 miles. Wee have had hard times out in the Rain Wee took some prisoners & Some contrabad goods Wee got 5 Kegs of Powder wich was baired under the ground about 8 feet I see by to days paper that our troops has got Munsons hill that is buly for us. Wee got new Suits to day. Wee expected to go in Virginia to day Wee did not get a Sight at old jeff on our march but hope to Soon there is no new here but What you know from the Dailies papers So I will close this [page 2] how is Wigins Brodhead Vail & cross and all of the rest of the old men how is the old grey no. more good by From your Friend Charlie PS I receive the triStates from you and much obliged if you ask father he Will give you the Route that wee went I wrote it to him
