[page 1] Ala Tala Cty Augt the 3 1864 Dear husbon I seat my self to tri to rite you a few lines to let you hear from hom a gane as I believe you are all ways anxious to hear Dave this leaves me and famley well as you could expect I am Harty if it wornt for my back and side and the headach I would have good health but I am getting along very well eney how under all surcumstances Dave I no news to rite I am done my fodder and have bin moveing my oats and cleaning Out my Crib I put them in the old Stable it did not leek and I put a flo in it of rails and a door bord up to it til Pa gets the chance to come down he Stoped aud stade all the eavening With me yesterday he said it would Waist them bad and he thought that Hows would do it packed full I had Rather had them in the old house tho is where they owght to of bin at first But it is a bad chance to get halling Done and I will haf to depend on pa To hall my corn up he said he thought I could gether the patch by the lot to some Fair day but I dawnt no when that will Come he thinks it all rather green but [page 2] Just do look hear I have fool my self out of A letter or you one I haf to send paper for to but You can rite on it Thursday morning the 4 [illegible] Sister [illegible] all well I could read your letter & I am riding and cant rite [page 3] I never was as anxious to gether corn be- fore I want to be getting readdy to sow wheat I have not gathered nerry twin of corn yet I have had Froney picking peas all that was ripe Pas folks is well MFC Carter is at home he had a hard spell and thinks his Jaw will rise a gane Billey Stapels is at home he can get about on crutches his thigh was broke Tom Stapels is killed it goes hard with Uncle Tomh\ I cant see the line nor marks After Supper Dave I’ve just received you kind letter by Carolde Tom Williams fetch it to me I was glad to get it I have bin wishing for one all the eavening I was glad to hear that you felt better than you had bin but sorry to hear of so much sickness among you all but expected it but still I could not help but be glad that you did not have so much fightting to do I fear you will have it eney how perhaps you could get a furlow home if you would tri for one I would be more than glad if you could if not that keep riting reglar that is a heap of satisfaction to me Simpley a heap of my lonely hours in answering them if you see Mr Hatten tell him his wife helth is a bout like comon and the Children is well and Mr Tilmons famley barbrah said tell you she love to Go to school and cold spell and her and qwearney Hatten is in a Class together she comes home every Friday [page 4] will close rite soon and of ten and come the first chance you dawnt now how Bad I want to see you if I could just see your lovley face as I do in my dreams it would be great to me barbrah is well pleased goin to scholl and is learning I hope I will sorter wean her Caroline and Jim Dave E gits a long finley he says he is his pas Jim crack he gets mad at times caws calling dawnt call him Jim Crack he said tell pa he was sweet I will weary you I will cwit I Remain your loving freind and wife til death Sinai A D Denney
