[page 1] Aug 6th 63 Camp Griswold Light Cavalry Dear sister I suppose that you have heard that I have Enlisted by this time William left here yesterday he said that you had a great time trying to find me well I started from marts two weeks ago last Sunday I did not know whether to write back or not but William said that I had better he said that if I was a going that as we had got good officers he thought I had better go with them. our company is full and we expect to be mustered in in a day or two and I shall come home a day or two to see you all I suppose that [page 2] Ed is working at the lead mine yet and that the rest of you are waiting on boarders the same as ever the Roll Call has sounded and I shall have to go to drilling give my love to all and save some for yourself R.
