Description | This collection consists of three letters, dated 1863-1865, sent to Isaac N. Brown, a medical doctor in the Union army during the Civil War. The envelopes indicate Brown was attached at various points to the 153rd Ohio Infantry and to General William T. Sherman’s headquarters in Savannah, Georgia. The letters were written by Brown’s sister and brother-in-law, Sue E. Bratten and E. Bratten; and by a man named Daniel Fee. Subjects covered include home life, the anti-war Ohio Democratic politician Clement L. Vallandigham, and the Union military draft. |
