JTuly 2,1932 REPORT TO THE BOAIRD O7 TROSTS of the ALABAM POLYT"EONIC INSTITrufr: In the past four years much has been done at this institution, but the task of presenting it briefly and graphically is exceedingly difficult. I will attempt to summarize the chans that have taken place under different headings as briefly as possible. PHYSICAL PLANT IMPROVMNT 1. The oass Chemical Laboratory was constructed to replace one of the sorriest chemical laboratories at any institution in the South, the cost being $289, 518.56. More than one thousand students take work in this building daily. It has resulted in an increase in enrollment in courses in chemistry and chemical engineeringe from seventy-seven in 1927-28 to one hundred and seventy in 191-32.. Ini :it instruction is given to students in all courses in fundamental chemistry and advanced courses in chemistry to .chemical engineers and other engineering students, 2. The" purchase of land consists of the Thach estate, the 8Smih estate, the Glenn property, the Mardre property and a part of the Drake estate, amounting to $104, 86.00. 3. The Dairy Barn and equipment was constructed at pa advantageous place on the college farm at a cost of $34, 604fi , 4. The Animal Husbandry and Dairy Building was constrheted on the Agricultural Campus and fully equipped at a cost of $189,53,35.
